The initial half of the book I found interesting and informative; that ‘witch’ came from a county in Britain and associating it once more with the principles of healing, magic and spirituality.And there appeared to be a hierarchy in the sisterhood such that “mother superior” travelled a territory and expected less senior “cunning-women” treating citizens of the village.But as the papacy slowly replaced matriarchal culture, Wicca became a word associated with the devil.The book then descended into the witch trials of the 14th, 15th, ..., 17th centuries.
